My name is MillieMollie and I’ve recently graduated with a BSc in Accounting and Finance from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.

So what’s next everyone asks? Well, definitely not being an accountant! Enjoy cooking waaayyy too much for that.

I’ve reached middle age (extremely quickly it seems) and brought up a family of three.  Although I’ve spent many years in an office environment managing administrative duties, I’ve also managed a catering career, both professionally and as a hobby.

I’ve also helped others in their catering businesses, as well as owning a family run restaurant with my husband and parents – twice, (I didn’t learn my lesson the first time round!).  I learned a great deal of my kitchen mastery from my Mum, but was also greatly influenced by my Dad who has been a baker and a cook at different times during his life.

My sister-in-law and I ran our own outside catering business after I had the unfortunate experience of being made redundant from a job which I loved and was in for 10 years. After that, I decided higher education and the challenge of getting a university degree would be good for my soul.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a mature student over the last three years and I’m extremely grateful to my husband for enabling me to do the university thing.

At the moment I work at the local Day Centre as a Relief Cook. This keeps me out of mischief for a few hours a week, while still giving me time and money for my hobbies, grandchildren and lunches with friends. And of course my new adventure: blogging.

Cooking has always been one of my passions. I manage to do an awful lot of it, savoury more than sweet. Although in recent years I’ve been doing a lot more baking and now can’t go too many days without cake! Did someone mention Bake Off?

For some years now I’ve wanted to put pen to paper (or should I say fingertips to keyboard?) and share my life experiences.  Blogging about all things culinary seems the way to go, with hopefully a lot more added. Now that I can officially put letters after my name I finally have the confidence to blog it all out. I shall be encouraging my friends and family to be guest bloggers, as well as telling culinary stories and keeping everyone up to date with the exploits of my chickens, who live at the end of the garden. And my husband as well, who keeps everything in order!

Please come and join me each week for recipes, stories and life.
