A different take on apple pie, great for a change. Serve with plenty of custard.

  1. Heat oven gas mark 6, 200°C/180° fan.
  2. Roll out pastry into a rectangle/oblong shape.
  3. Mix apples, breadcrumbs, lemon zest, raisins, almonds and egg (saving some egg to glaze) together.
  4. Spread onto the pastry and roll up like a Swiss roll.
  5. Put onto a baking sheet and brush with the saved egg wash.
  6. Bake in the hot oven for 30-40 minutes until lightly browned. Serve with custard.
